Homecoming Highlights

The Alumni Association hosted a Homecoming Celebration on Oct. 1 at Central Campus, featuring a "Taste of Philly" luncheon followed by a CSI forensic presentation and safety programs.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman, Chief of County Detectives Oscar Vance Jr. and the County Forensics Unit impressed the alumni audience with their investigative skills, showing how they use DNA, fingerprints, blood, ballistics and sketches to solve murder cases. During a Cyber-Bullying Prevention Program, William Thompson, CEO of Predictive Edge LLC, and D.A. Ferman told families how they could prevent their children from becoming victims and what to do if they suspected bullying.

Safety was the theme, as Whitpain Township Police Sgt. Cathy Penecaly and Upper Gwynedd Township Police Officer Fred Lynch offered tips for biking, personal protection and burglary prevention. Other activities included photos with McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, child-identification fingerprinting, drunk-goggle and self-defense demonstrations and tours of the County Forensics' crime scene mobile van and Bomb Unit vehicle.

The Alumni Association thanks the volunteer members who assisted with Homecoming, especially John Caperilla, Louise Linden and Carol Hampson, as well as Rev. Patti Thomas, who served as emcee.
