Honoring Students and POWER-ful Advocate

The Partnership on Work Enrichment and Readiness (POWER) Program helps individuals in mental health recovery to successfully develop and reach their education and career goals through a two-credit college course.

Sixteen students graduated from the POWER Program on May 3 during a ceremony held at Central Campus in Blue Bell. Additionally, 14 students were recognized for their achievements through the POWER Plus Program. These students are attending college classes, enrolled in degree programs or currently employed as a result of their participation in the POWER Program.

During the ceremony, Laura Kind McKenna received the POWER Advocate Award on behalf of the van Ameringen Foundation, Inc., for its confidence and investment in the POWER TAY (Transitional Age Youth) program. The van Ameringen Foundation provided $100,000 over a two-year period to expand the services to a much underserved group, namely adolescents and young adults between the approximate ages of sixteen and twenty-five years of age. The College thanks the van Ameringen Foundation, Inc., for its investment in POWER’s mission and for helping to transform lives.
